Anytime is actually good time for Vietnam due to its geographic north and south spread. In the south after January will be more dry, while up north cooler weather will dominate during winter times.

But it depends. In the South, including Saigon, the dry season is from December to April. The rest of the year it’s rainy especially in October when there can be flooding. That said, even in rainy season it may just rain hard for one hour a day and then be okay the rest of the day. The plus also is that after rains humidity goes way down. In the North, December and January can be pretty cold.

And I can say that: The best time to visit Vietnam is spring (February to April) and autumn (August to October). The temperatures are more moderate and rainfall is lighter. In spring, March and April have the lowest rainfall across all destinations and temperatures are pleasant, though still cool in the far north.

If you plan to see the whole country, deciding on the best time to visit Vietnam can be complicated. Vietnam is over 1,000km (600 miles) in length and has huge regional diversity, however as a truly year-round destination, travel to any part of Vietnam during any season is possible. Hanoi: Year around. Hot and humid in Summer, cool and dry in winter. As a Vietnam lover for 5 times visiting and living there, I realize that we should visit Vietnam in September of January, February and March. It's not too hot, not too cold, not too rainy and no moonsoon. September is autumn in Hanoi, the HoanKiem lake and atmosphere around Hanoi city are romantic. September's also great for beaches in the Central. Great idea. And January, February, March are spring. The weather is cool and beautiful. But it's also high season in Vietnam.Read more: Best time to visit Hanoi

Dalat: Year Around. The alpine region is temperate year- round and ideal for escaping the summer heat.

Saigon: Year round. Speaking for the South Vietnam especially Ho Chi Minh City. November and December for some awesome weather and nice Christmas decoration. Definitely the end of January and the beginning of February, don't you dare miss the Vietnamese Tet! Don't come in the summer because it has high airfare and it's raining a lot.
