Just after sunrise, depending on the spray, the rainbow usually pops out here, and moves slowly to the right (east). As the sun rises, the rainbow disappears or becomes a lot less conspicuous until around 13:00. In the afternoon, it starts as a more traditional shape, moving further east and becoming more vertical; a mirror image of this one:

The river is rising, causing a lot more spray. Sunrise is an amazing time to see the Victoria Falls, but you have to be quick. When the sun has risen, it hits the spray, causing a lot of glare. The spray is often smaller in the afternoon, as it evaporates more quickly, and the rainbow appears at viewing points 2-8 at about 1315. Here's a shot of the Main Falls just after sunrise.

Victoria Fall in March: The edge of Rainbow Falls, or the beginning of the Eastern Cataract, I'm not sure of the exact boundary. This is the best time of year to see the Eastern half of the falls, before it dries up and when the spray is low enough that it doesn't obsure the falls completely. Raincoats or umbrellas aren't really necessary at the moment, although you could still get a little bit wet.

In Nomember 2014, two top slack-liners crossed the gorge from viewing point 8 to Cataract Island, just next to Main Falls - Victoria Falls. The spray and wind from the falls made the crossing quite difficult, but what a view of the Falls they had!
